Share your pregnancy experiences

As part of our awareness raising programme to highlight the issues of pregnancy complications, we'd like to speak to pregnant women and mothers of young children about their experiences of pregnancy, who might be interested in acting as case studies for us.

How your case study will be used

When highlighting new pregnancy research, or promoting ways to maximise pregnancy health, we often receive requests from magazines, newspapers and television programmes, who would like to speak to our case studies, to highlight to the wider public the effects that pregnancy complications can have on a family, as well as providing comfort to others who may have gone through something similar.

Your case study will be kept in our extensive, confidential database. Once a suitable press opportunity presents itself that we believe will be sensitively handled, a member of our press team will contact you to find out if it is something you would like to take part in.

How to register

If you're interested in becoming a Tommy's case study, please complete our case studies registration form.

If you have any questions, please email Kristy at kmacleod@tommys.org or Atia at atalukder@tommys.org.

Please note that any information provided to us is used for administration and Tommy's purposes only and will not be passed on to a third party.

Types of experiences

We're always keen to speak to anyone who has experienced first hand the type of pregnancy complications that we work towards preventing, including:

  • Miscarriage
  • Premature birth
  • Pre-eclampsia
  • Toxoplasmosis (during pregnancy)
  • Stillbirth

Currently we're also particularly interested in hearing from women who:

  • Experienced a great deal of stress during their pregnancy - this can be either personal or work related (e.g. split up from a partner, treated poorly at work for being pregnant)
  • Worried about negative thoughts they were having about their unborn baby (e.g. what if I don't love my baby once it's born)
  • Put on a lot of weight during their pregnancy and experienced pregnancy complications because of it
  • Lost a lot of weight or possibly developed an eating disorder during their pregnancy
  • Continued to smoke, drink or take drugs during their pregnancy
  • Had a partner who felt left out or jealous during their pregnancy
  • Has a partner who would like to share their experiences of any of the above pregnancy complications

Read Amy's story

Amy Isabel Gibbs was stillborn on September 10th 2006.

Her father, Ben Gibbs, has created a podcast called "The Daddy Diaries", describing his and his wife's experiences.  Although he originally created it as a personal project, he hopes to help others who have had a similar experience.
